Ace's Story

I first learned about this unique chocolate in March - just a few months ago.

I’m a long-time patient at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Due to a rare type of cancer, I’ve had 3 stents (tubes) placed into my bile ducts and liver about every 6 weeks for the past 7 years. Yes, over 60 operations! (I was given as few as 3 days to live in February of 2002. I refused surgery, Chemo, radiation and all cancer-related drugs and put together my own health program with 2 friends of mine. I am now a natural health and alternative care advocate, but understand the value of traditional medicine.)

Just 2 months ago, April 2nd, I contracted a deadly blood infection (something people with stents are susceptible to). On Monday, April 6th, after being a candidate for the Intensive Care Unit, a new set of stents were placed. It seemed to help a little, but the infection had taken over.

Along with 4 different strains of infectious bacteria, on April 8th the doctors told me I had a severe case of Candida, a yeast infection, throughout my mouth, throat and esophagus.

The problem the doctors had was I am severely allergic to the 3 most powerful and popular antibiotics to fight the deadly bacteria in body. (Wow, what next?!)

Now here’s a real mind-blower! To many of the doctors at Johns Hopkins I’m known as the “Fruit and Veggie Guy.” My primary doctor knew and trusted me enough that it was agreed to let me go home and try to address the situation myself under the condition that if anything went wrong I would immediately return to the hospital. I was released on no medications whatsoever! (Some doctors believe that had never been done before at Hopkins.)

Well, long story short, I did all the things I normally do to address my health concerns, but this time I added one extra thing. Guess what it was. Yes, chocolate!

I started by taking 3 pieces of Probiotic (or friendly-bacteria) chocolate and added it to my regular health regimen, which includes high-dosage probiotics and other supplements. Two days later, a health advocate familiar with the chocolate actually suggested that I increase my intake to 5-6 pieces each day. Imagine being told to eat more chocolate! I did what he said.

The very next day my daughter mentioned that I sounded better. I agreed and went into the bathroom to take a look at myself. I noticed pink patches in my mouth! This was huge since Candida covers one's mouth in what appears to be white latex paint.

Bottom line: The Candida was gone in 2½ days, I started feeling much better over the next few and, on April 19th, at a huge dog show in Baltimore, I was out of bed, clear-headed, feeling great and gratefully spending my time and money to get pieces of this awesome chocolate in as many hands as I possibly could!

The following week my blood work confirmed that ANY and ALL signs of infection were gone! My personal physician said the only thing I had to address was a very slight elevation in my Cholesterol, but did take into consideration what I had just been through. He suggested a good walk for a couple of days would take care of that.
